Trip to Edwards AFB and QRF-4C Move

The second week of January, I had the opportunity to join my step-dad Chuck Mosely and his All Coast Aircraft Recovery team at Edwards Air Force Base, CA to prepare a QRF-4C Phantom II for transport to Davis-Motham AFB near Tuscon, AZ. It was an awesome experience! I am so thankful to Chuck and his crew for allowing me to participate. We had to separate the fuselage from the wings and remove the horizontal stabilizers before loading it on the truck. It took six of us four days to complete the task. The crew consisted of Chuck, Ray Brown, Denny Parmer, John Macon, Sean Mahany, and Me. Here are some photos of the work we did.

The trip out there was just as awesome for me. I love the desert because it has a beauty all its own. I rode with Denny and John, and when we got to Kingman, AZ we decided to take a little detour on Route 66, the Mother Road, up to the old mining town of Oatman. The scenery was breath-taking! The burros are the descendants of miners' burros that escaped or were turned loose years ago.  The first four photos below are of Humphery's Peak, the highest point in Arizona at 12,633 feet.
